Coal Australia Proudly Supports Landmark Sydney Mining Club Event

The panel of speakers included Coal Australia Chairman Nick Jorss, New Hope Group CEO Rob Bishop, and TerraCom Managing Director Danny McCarthy.

Coal Australia CEO Stuart Bocking said strong interest in the lunch highlights the changing attitudes towards coal, with many investors and financiers focusing on the strategic importance of coal.

“Given we are a grassroots organisation that is active in coal mining communities across the country, Coal Australia was proud to sponsor the 300th Sydney Mining Club event, with many of our producer members and associates joining us at Thursday’s lunch”, Mr Bocking said.

As the founder of Coal Australia, Mr Jorss outlined the progress this new coal-focused industry body has made through its community engagements, local sporting sponsorships, and Coal Australia’s presence at key industry events. He also addressed some of the most pressing challenges facing the sector, emphasising the urgent need to restore pride and the threat of further red and green tape being imposed on industry.

Mr Bishop and Mr McCarthy each shared valuable insights on their respective listed companies, including potential growth strategies, their laser-like focus on keeping costs down, appetite for new assets, and ongoing demand for coal both domestically and internationally.

The Sydney Mining Club has a proud history, with its first forum held in March 1997. Coal Australia looks forward to supporting future lunchtime events, as we restore pride and highlight the ongoing strategic importance of this most critical of minerals.
